Its been a while since we had one of these development updates, so we thought it would be nice to let you guys know our current state
and where we are heading.
As you are all aware, we are slowly inching towards T5, with attunements already released, loot being done for both instances, we can safely say that The Eye will be released by 15th of February (or earlier, depending on my schedule). Serpentshrine Cavern is currently being worked on, and we are trying to get 1-2 bosses released by the end of February. After that, the plan is to finish and release all bosses up to Vashj and Kael'thas, and then release those two at the end. (no ETAs on that)
For a small outside project, L4G devs have been helping the public version of our Database, which will result in releasing Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair in the coming month or so on Vengeance. Also there are pending big movement updates for Nagrand, also the courtesy of L4G.
LBRS should get a revamp in the coming weeks as well, made by the classic-db team, ported to tbc. 90% of this is not being done by the VoA team at all, so this wont jeopardize any of our own progress.
We fixed a lot of player abilities and mechanics over the past 2 months. We will continue this trend over the
following weeks/months. The idea is that even on a PvE server, PvP mechanics need to be completely viable, in order to provide proper Boss fights and encounters. Currently, Warlockbugs is working on immunities and diminishing returns, and I plan on refactoring a lot of targeting code, which will result in many spells displaying their visual animation properly, and also try to implement all relic/idol/totems, which have been missed over the years.
Last week, merge happened. Due to this, we will be releasing Swift Flight form questline ahead of schedule. This will require some alteratios to the current progression, but should not be anything major. We decided this would be better than removing the spell from WH characters. No ETA, but it is on our TODO list.
Following successful launch of new website and forums, new discord channel, we plan to keep up the trend of keeping everyone informed a bit more. Some server population live charts are planned for the future.
Last but not least, we made some insane JIRA progress when preparing for the new website. We managed to close about 400 duplicate/outdated issues, and fix more than 200 different issues in December and January alone. This means we are now down to 1000 open issues on JIRA. Please, feel free to look at existing issues and comment on their relevancy, and also create new ones for issues that are not there. This was of great help, especially for the vanilla world, which was missing a lot of small annoying things here and there.
What do we have planned beyond February? Right now I do not want to provide any ETAs or guarantees on any 2.1.0 content or on arena Season 2. The reason for this is very simple: to this day, there is no server that has 2.0.3 content working at at least 95% capacity. There is still plenty of unimplemented mechanics or events (looking at you Zangarmarsh and Nagrand PvP), which hinder the true TBC experience greatly. As you all know, many outdoor quests and 5-man instances need a lot of love as well. These are just some of the things that need to be finished so that we can safely move forward with content.
Glory and honor, fellow Azerothians.
Kael was not killed before 2.1. 4 Vashj kills are recorded, but the vial for hyjal attunement was treated the same as a tier token - only one person could recieve per kill.
If your plan is to release 2.1 as the ramp up to both T6 dungeons, I feel this is fair and reasonable.
Thanks to the team for their hard work.
